1. Donald Trump has announced 10% tariffs on US$200 billion worth of Chinese goods will be imposed from September 24. The tariffs are also set to rise to 25% at the end of the year.

2. US consumer and technology stocks were the most affected ahead of Trump's announcement, with the Nasdaq down 1.4% and the S&P 500 down 0.6%

3. Federal Liberal MP Ann Sudmalis has accused state Liberal MP Gareth Ward of bullying and announced she will quit politics at the next election. Using parliamentary privilege, she blamed her state colleague for "bullying, betrayal and backstabbing".

4. AMP has admitted it charged $1.3 million in life insurance premiums to 4,600 customers it was aware had died.

5. A German triathlete has been banned from an all-you-can-eat sushi restaurant after eating almost 100 plates of sushi. “He eats for five people. That is not normal,” the restaurant's owner told local newspaper Passauer Neue Presse.
