5 things you need to know today

1. Capilano, the country's biggest listed honey company, has been accused of selling 'fake' honey. An ABC/Fairfax report found one of the company's products, Allowrie Mixed Blossom Honey, was found to be "adulterated" in testing at a specialised lab.

2. Malcolm Turnbull signed off on $7.6 billion of roads and rail projects in an effort to hold on to marginal seats. The projects, which include $1.5 billion towards an east cost high-speed rail project and $3 billion for a North-South rail link in Western Sydney, would have been revealed progressively ahead of the next election.

3. The Australian dollar has fallen below 72 US cents for the first time since 2016.

4. Theresa May has fought back against calls for a second Brexit referendum, writing in the UK's Sunday Telegraph that it would be a "gross betrayal of our democracy".

5. Pushing pedestrian crossing buttons in the Sydney CBD does not affect traffic lights changing between 7am and 7pm Monday to Thursday, 7am to 9pm on Friday and 8:30am to 9pm on Saturday. The Sydney Morning Herald reported that the only day of the week that pushing the button actually matters is Sunday.
